  1. i have the best crime fiction novel on the planet. it is called: The Overlook, by Michael Connelly. omg please read it lol. i loved it.
  2. I really like Jonathan Kellerman, all of his crime novels are good reads.
  3. Joseph waumbaugh series, the thin blue line and you will be hooked. The 7th deadly sin..another series, this one is the best of his writing, Sanders I think is his last name. mickey spillane series kiss me deadly Raymond chandler thin man series Night of the General...author? Agatha christie series. Have fun.
  4. If you want crime and and comedy, Donald Westlake has an array of characters with the human touch.
  5. I like Tony Hillerman and Robert Parker, but they are on the hard boiled side; Parker more than Hillerman. Hillerman has the hardest-boiled line I've ever read, though. I like Elmore Leonard, too. The lady who does the "alphabet" books starring Kinsey Malone - A is for Alibi, etc - is a consistent best-seller. I don't have her name at the tip of my tongue. You could check "Best Short Crime Fiction of 2000", 2001, 2003 . . . out of the library and keep a 3x5 card handy as a bookmark. Chances are if you like someone's short story you'll like their novels. When you read a good one, jot the name down.
  6. The two-volume Library of America edition called Crime Novels: American Noir of the 30s and 40s (vol 2: the 50s) has 11 classics in the field.
  7. Check out Charlie Huston. It's great stuff and good fun, which is the most important thing of all.
  8. John Sandford - "Prey" series James Patterson - Alex Cross series Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child - Pendergast series These are some of my favorite books. Alex Cross and Pendergast are the main characters in the books.
  9. Someone above said the Agatha Christie series, there is no such thing, but Agatha Christie wrote some great murder mysteries, they focus on the detective though, with a fabulous reveal all at the end. (Try The Murder of Roger Ackroyd, Murder on the Orient Express, And Then There Were None, and Death on the Nile)
  10. Overlook is a great book but to get a start in the series read the 1st one: Black Echo Black Ice The Concrete Blonde The Last Coyote Trunk Music Angels Flight A Darkness More Than Night City of Bones Lost Light The Narrows The Closers then you have Robert B. Parker and the Spencer series Ian Rankin-Knots & Crosses Margaret Coel-The Dream Stalker Lee Child-Killing Floor Dennis Lehane-A Drink Before the War Joe Hilley-Sober Justice James Lee Burke-Heaven's Prisoners Philip R. Craig-A Beautiful Place to Die Lawrence Block-The Sins of the Father Ken Bruen-The Guards Ayelet Waldman-Nursery Crimes Linda Faristein-Bad Blood Kathy Reichs-Monday Mourning
